Purgatory by jaredlyon Purgatory by jaredlyon
Both the red room from Twin Peaks and the whole Outlook Hotel from The Shining can be view to represent purgatory. They both also have extremely iconic floor patterns, and one day I noticed that I could combine the two patterns rather easily. After a few weeks of playing around off and on, the final product was finished. Originally, I created the images without the characters, but in the end decided to add them in.

Do you have the version w/o the characters?

I love this. I think it is especially pertinent since Lynch borrows heavily and masterfully from Kubrick. The dark tones, the way he ratchets tension and uses quiet and stillness to get under your skin? All of that is from Kubrick (by way of Hitchcock) and particularly from the Shining. I am pretty sure Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks would not exist without The Shining. Great work on putting the two works in the same room with one another for them to finally interact. You really captured the doom and the dread and the mad, lunatic whimsey of both works.

Well done!. Both movies are twisted and brilliant in their own way. Placing the characters into the image MAKES the image in my opinion.
